Grade 3 Mathematics | IEB Pathway
About This Subject
Prepare your child for the next stage of mathematical learning with Aspire Online School’s Grade 3 Mathematics subject.
Building on Grade 2 foundations, learners work with larger numbers, deepen their understanding of place value and practise choosing calculation strategies. Practical activities encourage logical thinking, accuracy and the ability to explain their answers.
Learning areas include:
- Numbers and place value: Read, write, compare and order numbers, and understand hundreds, tens and units.
- Addition and subtraction: Solve calculations and word problems using mental and written strategies.
- Multiplication and division: Develop number facts and explore equal groups, sharing and remainders.
- Fractions: Recognise, compare and represent simple fractions of whole objects and collections.
- Patterns: Identify, describe and extend number and geometric patterns.
- Space and shapes: Explore the properties of two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional objects, including symmetry.
- Measurement: Measure and compare length, mass and capacity, and solve practical problems involving time and money.
- Data handling: Collect, organise and interpret information using tables, picture graphs and bar graphs.
Suitable for Grade 3 learners strengthening foundational mathematics skills within Aspire’s IEB pathway.
